In the Maritimes

So here I am sitting in another Days Inn in Oromoncto, NB. This is the first place I have stayed in since the first night that has a computer for guests to use. Most of them had Wi-Fi or nothing at all. Not going to fill up on a lot of trip stats just yet, going to wait until the trip is done and I have had a chance to put everything together.
I will however make some predictions on some of the trip stats:
  1. I think I averaged a speed of 90 km/h.
  2. I think I averaged about 350 km/tank of gas.
  3. I think the average price paid for gas was about .95/litre

Having only one more day of travel feels good. It is about 7 hours from here to Digby and I am looking forward to getting back home and out of the car.

Schmunk you will be hearing from me at some point during the upcoming week, Zib I hope to have internet up and running shortly so I will be talking to you online, Clawmonkey, you need to get internet so we can get some gaming in.

Here's to hoping that Camp Spoot 2007 is NS.

Talk to you guys soon.

On the Road.

Well here I find myself sitting at a computer in MooseJaw, SK. In a Days Inn just before breakfast. The trip home has officially begun. The drive from Calgary to here was pretty uneventful except for the fact that I ran out of gas right around Thompkins, SK. Praise the almighty Jebus for AMA. The distance traveled yesterday was about 650 km. Not as many as I wanted to put behind me but after sitting on the side of the road for about an hour I thought it would be a good place to stop.
So far I the gas prices haven't been to bad.
  • 84.4 filled up in Strathmore, AB.
  • 93.4 filled up in Thompkins, SK.

I am going to fill up before I leave MooseJaw but that will be in the next post.

Schmee is handling the trip pretty well and hasn't puked and is using his box on the road. He seems to be enjoying it so far. I am going to try and make it to the Manitoba/Ontario border today and save the Canadian Shield for Thursday.

Driving across the southern part of SK was very nice. The rolling hills must a beautiful site when all the crops are in bloom. As it was, the rolling hills of gold and brown was very picturesque with the last light of the setting sun hitting them. Very nice but you couldn't pay me to live out there.

Talk to you again soon.

Farewell to Alberta

Well the time has come. After 8.5 years in the land of beef I have decided that it is time to move on. I will be moving back to NS around the middle of August, driving across this great land of ours with all my possessions in tow, literally. I will be renting a trailer or if I come across one at a good price then I will buy it. The reason I say buy is because this is just a temporary move. I plan to make the trip back in approximately two years. Taking a page from the book of Schmunk, I am going to be going back to school. I am looking at going to NSCC and taking a 1 year welding certificate then coming back out to the richest province in Canada to reap the benefits of all that oil money.

This decision is not one that I have made on the spur of the moment but have had many sleepless nights thinking about it. I want to do something that has some substance to it and come out of it with something that I can use to make a living. The last 8 years here have been some of the best of my life and I will miss AB but as the saying goes, there is no place like home.

With my divorce paperwork slowly coming to an end I have come to realize that over the last 6 years with the ex that, while not all necessarily bad, I have changed and some of the things that have changed I do not like. It's time to go home and regain that parts that were lost and to shed some of the things that were gained. I look forward to seeing all the friends that are back home.

When I get home I will be purchasing a house with my brother Jon. A 3 bedroom house with 3.5 acres of land. It is right next door to my old home in Gilbert's Cove and will be a good addition to the Trask estate. At some point in the future, we will consider buying the house on the other side of my old home if and when it comes up for sale. With this, Jon and I will own about 12-15 acres of waterfront property with 3 houses to call our own. Now that sounds like a good situation to be in. I will miss everyone here in AB but as I said, I will be back and what fun we will have when I land back in the land of beef.

A new vid graces the blog, Tenacious D. For those of you who haven't picked this CD up or found the songs on the net, take my advice and get it/them. While not the best CD to be had it provides some good humor and shows just how talented Jack Black is. Enjoy the vid and until then

Just on today to get the videos that once graced my blog back up and running. The video while not necessarily a great video but the song rocks and since I can put the video in I am.

Enjoy the vid and let me know what you think or maybe a suggestion for the next vid.
If I can find the code, I'll put it in the blog the next time.

Till then

Ahh here I find myself in front of the keyboard to bring to you all the news that is Jingo.

Lets see my brother has recently come out for an open ended vacation in the Land of Beef. Having landed the on the ta Thursday before may long weekend and then headin down to Waterton with us for a great time. See the pics below.

This is just a small sample of the stuff that happens at Camp Spoot.

This just in.........

Xbox 360 Kicks some serious Ass!!!!

Thats right I bought one of these bad ass piece of Microsoft machinery and so far it has been a good purchase. So far I have 2 games for it - Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Battlefield 2 : Modern Combat. Both games are excellent in my opinion and should be a purchase for anyone buying a 360.

On the radio today there was a small comedy bit on CJ92 about Bush trying to talk some spanish during a speech he was giving at some thing or another. Well it sounded probably like I would trying to get around the heart of Montreal with only my broken and partially forgotten high school french. I can see me asking someone for directions talking like this only to be chased out of town followed by a crowd with pots of boiling tar and several bags of goose feathers. The people of the free world should band together and do something very similar to W. only also involving some pliers, bamboo chutes and large bottles of peroxide just so he can feel the sting.

On another note, if you happen to find yourself in a music store in the near future I suggest that you pick up Tenacious D. Jack Black is one crazy mofo and has some talent to boot. Pick up this CD and laugh your ass off when you listen to it.

Till Bush drops trou, bends over and shoves his head up his ass...

Later.
